In May of 2021, they moved to Ridgewood Villa in Joann’s hometown of Glenwood, MN, to be near family. During this time he was a member of the Steelworkers Union. She also liked to attend garage sales, go swimming and hot tubbing, and travel throughout the US with friends and family… particularly heading up north. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph; sisters Mary Jean and John Somers, Andrea and James Olsen, and brother-in-law Joseph Scaletta. Thelma attended school in Waseca and was a member of the graduating class of 1942. Thelma was born on July 29, 1923, to Alfred and Mabel (Klabo) Rice. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, a nephew and several brothers in law. Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bertha, a daughter, Rebecca Frank of New Richland and her two children, Chandler Frank of Rochester, Allie Frank of Hartland and 2 great granddaughters, Hadley and Eden Johnson. She performed with the Ice Follies after high school and went on to teach figure skating and coach competitive skating in California. Their marriage was blessed with two talented children, a daughter, Donnarae, and a son, Thomas. Raymond Thomas Barry, Jr., son of Raymond Thomas and Martha Viola (Timm) Barry, was born April 19, 1929, in Waseca, MN. Raymond T. Barry, age 92, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Clark, SD, died on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at his residence in Nelson Gables in Alexandria, surrounded by family and under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice. She enjoyed playing cards, garage sales and eating out at new spots. She would scarcely look at the semicircle of white housesstretching round the bay, nor yet at the hills and the scatteredvillas, nor yet at the brown and desolate old castle built highon the point beyond. They came in sight of the slate-quarries of Easdale.Then a long streak of smoke beyond told them that thegreat steamer from the North was coming down with hercargo of English tourists from the hills and lochs ofInverness. There was nosign of life abroad save the hovering in mid-air of the whitegannet, or the far and rapid flight of a string of wild duckssinking down towards the south. Far away on their left, between the misty hills ofJura and Scarba, lay the treacherous Corryvreckan, dreadedof fishermen; and they knew that those glassy swirls aroundthem were but the outlying posts and pickets of the racingand channelled tides. He was also a longtime member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. During retirement, he enjoyed driving the Blue Earth County Veterans Van to the Minneapolis V.A. Hospital, sharing stories with the veterans. The family moved to Mankato, MN in 1971 while Jodie was pregnant with their second child, Melanie. Joe and Jodie's son, Joe Jr., was born in Montevideo. That understanding of the lives of veterans became a shared theme in their life together. That is why the time has come to accept decreased growth in some parts of the world, in order to provide resources for other places to experience healthy growth. Today, in view of the common good, there is urgent need for politics and economics to enter into a frank dialogue in the service of life, especially human life. They are also concerned about what they will eventually leave to their children and grandchildren. Traveling and Adventuring: Your Path to Staying Young, Fit, and Healthy Tim enjoyed visiting the Minnesota State Fair, attending auctions, collecting A&W memorabilia, traveling, and watching sci-fi and action movies. Growing up in Waseca, Tim attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, helped at Preuss’s Bakery, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Timothy was born on November 17, 1954 at the Waseca Hospital to Donald and Marcaline (Wees) Preuss. As their mother, Paulette taught our children what it feels like to be truly loved. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, camping with his kids, and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Dorothy especially cherished the time spent with friends and family. After being told her weight put her life in jeopardy, she dedicated herself to healthy eating, to walking and to working out. She began towonder if it was in this place that the Whaup had beenliving for so long a time, and how the thought of Airlie andthe wild moorland and the sea had not broken his heart. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1983 and later attended cosmetology school and the University of Minnesota-Waseca. RUSSELL P. DAHNERT, age 90 of Waseca, died peacefully at his home on Monday, August 27, 2018 surrounded by his family under the care of Heartland Hospice. Linda wasn’t your average 67 year old; she was young at heart. She also enjoyed gardening and shopping, especially at old navy. Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents; and his sister, Anita McCabe. He grew up in Waseca, graduated from high school and served two years in the U.S. At one time, he boasted that he used to cut Miss Minnesota’s hair as well as that of Princess Kay of the Milky Way. Following retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends. Growing up she was very active in the church, she enjoyed 4H and spending time with friends, and loved her pet monkey Pud. Karen is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, her unborn daughter Gracie May, many aunts and uncles, and very special friends Vicki and Austin of Evans, Colorado. After retiring in 2012, he enjoyed a peaceful life of fishing, hunting, hiking, canoeing, gardening, and connecting with friends and family. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and other friends and family. Ike enjoyed portaging into Canadian fishing lakes that only float planes could reach to catch and release massive fish. Ike enjoyed fishing Turtle Lake, catching lunkers (Vivian always caught the biggest fish), Canadian fishing trips, hunting, gardening, tree planting and woodcarving. In 1996, they moved to Turtle Lake near Marcell, MN where he loved the lakes and enjoyed his "Take a Chance Fishing Guide Service." In 2004, they moved to Lake Darling near Alexandria, MN. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Waseca first responders and paramedics, and the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Mary’s hospital. She also enjoyed playing cards and playing the board game, Dixie Pollyanna, with family and friends. He and Lynn made several trips a year to keep up with their grandchildren and their parents. To see the tender care of Blain, their three children, and Irene Edgett (life-long friend), and the whole Nelson clan and friends has been a huge blessing. Visitation will be held on Friday, one hour before services at the church. She was often the one making sure no one lost touch, organizing gatherings with high school and college friends, co-workers and family. They have four beautiful children, Taylor, Taryn, Jonah, and Jacklynn. Tracy married the love of her life, Michael Jevning, on August 18th, 2001. She loved Waseca and enjoyed giving back to her community. Her life’s journey ended at her home in Waseca, on September 30th, 2017 at the age of 44 surrounded by the people she loved dearly. Dora Ruth (Dorothy) was born on March 20, 1927, in Waldorf to Herman and Matilda (Koch) Fennert. Dora Matz 1927–2018 Waseca—Dora Ruth Matz, age 91, of Waseca died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday afternoon, March 24, 2018, at Colony Court Senior Living in Waseca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; three sisters, Doris Matson, Mildred Drews, and Rahma Baker; three brothers, her twin Bernell Anderson, Clifford Anderson, and Kenneth "Grumpy" Anderson. She enjoyed shopping, ceramics, playing bridge, Dairy Queen, and Applebee's boneless honey barbeque wings! Dena was born May 27, 1933 to Elof and Elsie (Swenson) Anderson in Waseca. Hisbreath was coming and going at double-quick time, andhe held his teeth tight as he brought the sight of the barrelup to the line of rock. The intensity ofthe colours subsided; the salmon-coloured waves grew of apale neutral tint; a cold twilight spread over the sky; andwith the stirring of the wind came in the new life of theworld—the crowing of some grouse far up in the heather,the chirping of birds in the bushes, the calling of curlew,and the slow flapping of a pair of herons coming landwardfrom the sea. All in thewest—by the far shores of Knapdale and up the long stretch ofLochfyne—there brooded a dull and mysterious fog, inwhich hills and islands lay like gloomy clouds; but overthere at the eastern horizon there was a glow of rose-colouredsmoke, which as yet had no reflection on the sea. Navy following high school and was stationed in Fallon, NV as an airplane mechanic. She also enjoyed growing flowers, collecting rocks, reading, and music. Jane Louise, the daughter of Melvin and Inez (Stoering) Meyer was born on July 18, 1947 in Faribault, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, Jane's family requests memorials be made to the Waseca Arts Council in her memory. At the time that he pared down his waistline, the actor was running on a treadmill as often as possible and lifting weights. No doubt Jonah Hill’s dietary changes helped him lose weight and improve his health, but he wasn’t losing weight just by eating better. Interestingly, the healthiest eaters connect their motivations for healthy eating with non-weight health-related outcomes. Jonah put time into building up some kitchen and grocery-shopping skills that can be used for other aspects of his life, not just for getting back into his old pants. She also enjoyed road trips with her mom and sister while the men went hunting. She loved baking treats for holidays and growing up would cook for family suppers. She attended school in Waseca until transferring to Waterville-Elysian High School her sophomore year. They also loved to go on casino trips with friends and family. She moved with her family to Belmont Shore, CA when she was eighteen and has stayed in California for the rest of her life. He did not recall, during an interview one time, a horse trainer in the family who then became a barber. "Young ladies—young ladies—young ladies—who canremember the names of young ladies?" said, or ratherhummed, Sir Peter, keeping time by tapping on the carriagewindow. It is to be feared that the Whaup and his friends didnot form the most studious coterie to be found in the oldHigh Street building. Indeed, shewas so astounded by this mad project on the part of herhusband—within an hour of dinner-time—that she had nota word to say; and in blank astonishment she beheld thecarriage drive off. Having lost nearly half her body weight, Pauline was a huge fan of Herbalife products and support system. Linda always looked forward to hosting the holidays and spending time with her family, where everyone looked forward to her infectious laugh. She enjoyed decorating, especially for each of her children’s weddings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Lucille Miller, by her sister, Rose Ann Miller, and her sister Virginia (Miller) Pelto. For years Pauline’s friends, co-workers, and family looked to her for her cheery smile; customer satisfaction was her forte; people might say she went the ‘extra mile’ to help those in need, but the truth is more potent. She donated time to her church, her community and anyone who needed to just talk.
