Kim showed his admiration for China's accomplishments in the development and innovation of science and technology, and wrote an inscription to mark the visit. Japan, for its part, also refused to cooperate in implementing relevant agreements by playing up "DPRK abductions of Japanese citizens." This series of events has contributed to the conundrum concerning the denuclearization of the peninsula. The United States launched financial sanctions on the DPRK in disregard of a joint statement reached by the six-party talks involving the DPRK, the ROK, the United States, China, Russia and Japan on September 19, 2005. Nevertheless, the United States needs to consider whether driving its strategic offensive weapons to other countries' doorsteps is the only way for it to demonstrate its hegemonic status. High-level exchanges have always played the most important guiding and promoting role in the history of China-DPRK relations. We are ready to make joint efforts with the DPRK side, conform to the trend of the times, hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit, continuously improve the wellbeing of the two peoples, and make positive contribution to regional peace, stability and development.Xi expressed his confidence that under the leadership of Comrade General Secretary Kim and the WPK, the brotherly DPRK people will surely continuously advance the socialist cause of the country for new development and lift it to a new level. He noted that in recent years, in the face of a complex and ever-changing international landscape, the comradely trust and friendship between the DPRK and China have kept growing deeper, and bilateral relations have advanced to a higher stage. He said the DPRK greatly appreciated China's important role in promoting denuclearization of the Peninsula as well as in maintaining peace and stability on the Peninsula. With glorious and time-honored revolutionary traditions, the WPK has in its 75-year brilliant course united and led the DPRK people to fight heroically and move forward bravely, thereby realizing national independence and liberation of the people and promoting the socialist cause to create great achievements, Xi said.Kim said he firmly believes that under Xi's leadership, the CPC and the Chinese people will uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics and achieve glorious victory in the new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects. He called on the two sides to implement the outcomes of the summit, and parties concerned to make concerted efforts to advance the peace process. "I will guide all WPK members and the DPRK people to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by Comrade General Secretary and me, to lift the unbreakable DPRK-China relations to a new level," Kim said. The CPC will lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in keeping on working with great determination and continuously striving for the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, Xi said. It is a strategic choice of the DPRK to pass on and develop friendship with China under the new situation, and it will remain unchanged under any circumstances. It is the splendid tradition of the two parties to have frequent in-depth exchange of views on major issues. Guided by the important consensus of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, China would like to work with the DPRK to implement the will of the people of the two countries to push bilateral ties to achieve greater progress, she said. Kim's tribute shows that the DPRK cherishes the contribution made by the Chinese People's Volunteers, and also demonstrates the development of traditional friendship between the two countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Wednesday. Under the new situation, the Chinese side stands ready to work with the DPRK comrades to maintain, consolidate and develop China-DPRK relations, and strive to achieve new outcomes in the socialist causes of both countries, so as to bring more benefits to both peoples, Xi said in his message. It signified the beginning of the thawing of the antagonistic relationship between the two sides. President Donald Trump in Singapore on June 12 marked the first face-to-face contact between a sitting U.S. president and a DPRK leader. The major ideas and propositions put forward by Xi, Thongloun said, such as the building of a human community with a shared future, the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative, have been widely recognized and supported by the international community, and these proposals have made and will continue to make positive contributions to world peace and development. DPRK can learn plenty from China's reform and opening up Comrade Chairman's visit to China showed the great importance he attaches to the strategic communication between the two parties and two countries, Xi said, expressing his appreciation to Kim. The two leaders had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on the current development of China-DPRK relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula. BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, held talks with Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), in Beijing on Tuesday. However, from a cognitive point of view, the two parties are in the final stage of a process preceded by years of gambling.Talking about the situation of the Korean Peninsula, Xi said he and Kim fully exchanged views and reached important consensus during their first meeting, adding that Kim has recently made active efforts to promote dialogue and easing of tension on the peninsula with constructive progress being made.BEIJING -- Ruling party leaders of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Vietnam, Laos and Cuba on Sunday respectively sent congratulations to Xi Jinping on his election as general secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).The two sides should, through various forms, enhance people-to-people exchanges, consolidate the foundation of popular will for bilateral friendly relations, especially enhance youth exchanges, and inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of China-DPRK friendship.Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said in the message that over the past 76 years, under the leadership of the WPK, the people of the DPRK have united as one and promoted the vigorous development of various national causes.Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, will lead a delegation to attend commemorative activities in Pyongyang. The two parties and governments have decided to designate this year as the China-DPRK Friendship Year, and further promote the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two sides in accordance with needs of the times, which conforms to the common expectation and desire of the people of the two countries, Kim added. The two sides have maintained close strategic communication, deepened practical cooperation, strengthened coordination and collaboration in multilateral international affairs, pushed forward the continuous development of China-DPRK relations, safeguarded the common interests of the two countries, and maintained regional peace and stability, Xi added. Under the new circumstances, China is willing to work with the DPRK to strengthen strategic communication and deepen practical cooperation, push China-DPRK relations to advance with the times and achieve greater development, so as to better benefit the two peoples and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity, Xi added. As a close neighbor and an important party involved, China stands ready to work with relevant parties and continue to be dedicated to realizing denuclearization on the peninsula as well as establishing the peace mechanism there, it said. He said the fact that he chose China as the destination of his first overseas visit showed his will to carry forward the tradition of the DPRK-China friendship, and how he valued the friendship between the two countries. "The issue of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula can be resolved, if south Korea and the United States respond to our efforts with goodwill and create an atmosphere of peace and stability while taking progressive and synchronous measures for the realization of peace," said Kim. The DPRK-China friendship, which was founded and nurtured by the elder generations of leaders of both countries, is unshakable, he said. Chinese leaders mourn death of Kim Jong Il Xi noted that he and Kim have met five times in recent years, maintained close communication through various forms, and jointly led the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK into a new era. He added that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and the "China-DPRK Friendship Year." Xi expressed his belief that under the leadership of the WPK headed by Comrade General Secretary, the people in the DPRK will surely win new and greater victories in advancing the cause of DPRK-style socialism. “We hope and support the two countries to implement the consensus made by their leaders, promote follow-up negotiations, and further consolidate and expand the achievement, making the political settlement of the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue a sustainable and irreversible process,” it said. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his cordial greetings and warm congratulations to Xi, the Chinese government and people, reaffirming that South Africa is ready to further consolidate and strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between South Africa and China. On behalf of his government, US President Joe Biden congratulated the People's Republic of China on the 73rd anniversary of its founding, noting that he joins the US people in wishing all of the Chinese people peace and prosperity. Kim said that the upcoming 20th CPC National Congress will become a new milestone in China's socialist development, and it is his belief that the Chinese people's dream of national rejuvenation will come true under Xi's leadership and with the Chinese people closely united around the CPC. Kim Jong-un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, extended warm congratulations to Xi, the CPC, and the Chinese government and people. Such acts pose challenges to the post-WWII international order, to human conscience and to all peace-loving people. Fifty people from 14 countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Canada, will attend this year's commemorations. China and the DPRK are friendly neighbors linked by the same mountain and river, and are both socialist countries led by communist parties, Xi said. “It is important progress made in pushing forward the denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula as well as its political settlement,” the Foreign Ministry said on June 12 in a statement after the summit concluded. They expressed gratitude to the Chinese people for their support and to the great era, and vowed to accomplish their tasks "to fill space with the glory of the motherland". Speaking at a reception on Saturday to mark the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said "one country, two systems" has provided institutional safeguards for the city's prosperity and stability and the SAR always has strong backing from the motherland. Compared with previous U.S. presidents, Trump made some progress by announcing that the United States would withdraw troops from the ROK and stop conducting military exercises with the country, which the DPRK characterizes as war games. A major hurdle in previous talks regarding the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue stems from the two countries' understanding of denuclearization. If it continues with a problem-oriented mentality, nuclear issues on the peninsula will be more difficult to resolve. Second, the two nations agreed to join efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. president said that at an appropriate time he is looking forward to visiting Pyongyang and will also invite Kim to visit the White House. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said earlier on June 12 that it is important and positive for the top leaders of the two countries to sit down and conduct equal talks, which is creating history. A document signed after the summit by the two leaders affirmed Kim’s commitment to complete denuclearization of the peninsula and Trump’s commitment to provide security guarantees to the DPRK. Trump and Kim concluded the summit by citing meaningful progress toward achieving peace and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. China spoke positively of related parties’ efforts in making the meeting a success, and “it is also the common appeal of the international community,” the statement said. The two parties and countries have supported each other and coordinated with each other during long-term practices, making great contributions to the development of the socialist cause. Sharing common ideals and beliefs as well as profound revolutionary friendship, the elder generations of leaders of the two countries trusted and supported each other, and wrote a fine story in the history of international relations, said Xi. Xi said the China-DPRK traditional friendship, established and cultivated meticulously by the elder generations of leaders of both parties and both countries, was the precious wealth of both sides. Xi also wished that the WPK would maintain continuous development and the DPRK's socialist cause would prosper. Xi said he believes that under the firm leadership of the WPK Central Committee headed by Kim, the WPK and the DPRK people will make persistent efforts and work hard to continuously push forward the progress of the DPRK's socialist cause, and greet the 8th Congress of the WPK with victory. With glorious and time-honored revolutionary traditions, the WPK has in its 75-year brilliant course united and led the DPRK people to fight heroically and move forward bravely, thereby realizing national independence and liberation of the people and promoting the socialist cause to create great achievements, Xi said. In his message, Xi said that on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and in his own name, he extends warm congratulations and best wishes to Kim, and through Kim to the WPK Central Committee, all WPK members as well as the people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). BEIJING -- General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping on Saturday sent a congratulatory message to Kim Jong-un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), on the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK. Talking about the situation of the Korean Peninsula, Xi said he and Kim fully exchanged views and reached important consensus during their first meeting, adding that Kim has recently made active efforts to promote dialogue and easing of tension on the peninsula with constructive progress being made. Pyongyang can succeed by walking hand-in-hand with Beijing and the world should encourage such efforts since a prosperous DPRK can assure greater peace in the region. In other words, DPRK is making the choice for peace and wishes to grow richer. For his part, Kim said both the DPRK-China friendship and the Korean Peninsula situation have undergone meaningful progress since March this year. "After the first meeting between me and Comrade Chairman, both China-DPRK relations and the Korean Peninsula situation have made positive progress. I feel happy about it," he said. During the arduous years of war, the two peoples together made important contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and humanity's just cause. Chinese President Xi Jinping will host leaders from 26 countries at a massive military parade in Tian'anmen Square next week to mark the 80th anniversary of the country's victory against Japanese aggression and the world's victory against fascism. It said that China had made unremitting efforts in pursing denuclearization, maintaining peace and stability of the peninsula, and resolving the problem through dialogue and consultation. China highly appreciates the political decisions made by the leaders of the two countries, and applauds the efforts made by relevant parties to make the meeting a success, the statement said. Xi said for a period of time, with joint efforts of parties concerned, the Korean Peninsula issue had been put back on the right track of seeking settlement through dialogue and consultation, and the situation on the Peninsula was developing towards peace and stability. "No matter how the international and regional situations change, the firm stance of the CPC and the Chinese government on consolidating and developing the relations with the DPRK remains unchanged, the Chinese people's friendship with the DPRK people remains unchanged, and China's support for the socialist DPRK remains unchanged," he said. Secondly, both China and the DPRK are socialist countries, and their bilateral relations are of major strategic significance. It is an unswerving principle and the only correct choice for both countries to develop the friendly and cooperative China-DPRK relations. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, met Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province, on May 7-8. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, holds talks with Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province, on May 7-8 (XINHUA) According to ROK media reports, a focus of the three parties' discussions will be on enhancing military deterrence against the DPRK, and possibly kick-starting intelligence-sharing on DPRK missile pre-warning. The importance of the meeting, scheduled for Aug 18, is evident in the fact that it would be the first visit by any foreign leader to the presidential resort since Biden took office, and the first since 2015 when Barack Obama was president. Seventy years after the warring parties signed the Korean Armistice Agreement, the clouds of war are still gathered over the Korean Peninsula. High-level exchanges have always played the most important guiding and promoting role in the history of China-DPRK relations. It is an unswerving principle of the CPC and the Chinese Government to maintain, consolidate and develop good relations with the DPRK, he said. Xi said he appreciated that Kim sent him a congratulatory message after the 19th CPC National Congress on his reelection as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and the assumption of office of chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission (CMC). Xi also extended sincere gratitude to Kim for his great attention and earnest attitude demonstrated after a major road accident in the DPRK which resulted in casualties of the two countries' citizens. Xi stressed that he and Kim held their historic first meeting in Beijing in March this year, during which they had a long and in-depth communication, and reached principled consensus in four aspects on developing China-DPRK relations in the new era. However, the U.S. stance changed slightly during the recent Kim-Trump meeting as it absorbed to a certain extent the DPRK's philosophy of dealing with international relations. As a result, the United States uses a problem-oriented approach in talks with other countries and these dialogue partners have to choose whether to accept or reject the superpower's way of solving problems. Whether the process can be finished depends not only on the personal wisdom of the two leaders but also on the collective level of cognition of all parties involved. However, from a cognitive point of view, the two parties are in the final stage of a process preceded by years of gambling. Although the document didn't elaborate on the relationship among the three issues, they obviously should be tackled as a whole since they underline the complexity of the deadlock on the Korean Peninsula. In international relations, meetings between state leaders set the direction of their countries' future relations. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chinese president, on Tuesday held talks with Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), who arrived in Beijing on the same day for a visit to China. Putin's visit is of great importance in "reliably promoting the strategic and future-oriented development of DPRK-Russia relations," the report said. Once again congratulating the CPC on its centenary, he said he wishes the CPC and the Chinese people greater success in building China into a modern socialist country in all respects and achieving the great national rejuvenation. It is the unswerving position of the WPK and the DPRK government to continuously strengthen and develop the DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations, he said. Xi said he is confident that the WPK and the DPRK people, under the leadership of Kim, will surely make new and greater achievements. China has recently held grand celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the CPC's founding, and the DPRK people are striving all out in unity to implement the decisions and deployments made at the eighth WPK Congress, Xi noted, stressing that China firmly supports the DPRK in developing its economy, improving its people's wellbeing, and vigorously advancing its cause of socialist construction.
