The two fans produce little noise in routine use (office, internet) and in idle mode. The installed hardware offers enough performance to play quite a few games smoothly at low to medium settings - but the Spectre is not a gaming notebook. Future software updates may improve this, or lead to further deterioration. The standardized latency monitor test (web surfing, 4k video playback, Prime95 high-load) revealed some anomalies. A pity about the type of RAM installed, since HP could have squeezed more performance out of the hardware with faster DDR5 or even LPDDR4/5 memory. For all intents and purposes this test shows drive performance under normal daily activity for most users. Our second real-life test covers disk activity in a productivity scenario. Higher IOps and MB/s rates with lower latency times are preferred. On the right side, we find only the provision for a Noble security lock to secure the device. Right next to them are the slots for a microSD and a Micro-SIM card, which both have a protective cover. The connection equipment is good and includes current, future proof connections. Due to the removable display, Dell foregoes their well-known 360-degree hinges. However, fingerprint smudges show up very notably on the casing in certain lighting and can make the laptop look really dirty. That said, since the screen is only 13.3 inches and the laptop only weighs slightly more than three pounds (1.38 kg), it's easy to tote this device around or slip it into a bag. The casing is a bit thicker than some other laptops on the market, but that's no surprise, given that it houses an RTX 4060 L, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. You can go up to the RTX 4060 L if you need your laptop to have a bit more oomph, though. That said, most of the new features either cost extra (i.e. Lens Mods) or cater for more professional users (i.e. HLG HDR), which makes the base unit very similar to the Hero 12 Black. What I found is that the Hero 13 Black is an awesome camera with a ton of unique use cases and features that enable you to express yourself in ways you couldn’t before. Overall, it’s a battery life increase, no matter how you look at it, without the added bulk. The Insta360 Ace Pro has a Lecia lens (Lecia!), a flip-up screen, a 48MP camera, and an impressive HDR mode, though GoPro wins out on battery life with a superior 1900mAh Enduro battery. The new DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is $50 cheaper but features a four-hour battery and a 40MP camera (GoPro maxes out at 27MP). The new camera has a range of improved accessories, including new lens mods, ND filters, creator accessories, and a magnetic latch mount (don't worry — it's more secure than it sounds). It shoots professional-quality video footage underwater, on the trail, and in the snow. You get an expansive and vibrant OLED display, very good battery life and plenty of ports.However, these are qualities that even laptops over $1,000 struggle with, and its highlights outweigh its more disappointing qualities.The low price of this product is made possible by huge (container load) buying power and less stringent manufacturing tolerances than our standard product lines.Constructed with a carbon fiber frame and 3K carbon fiber faces, this racket offers robust durability and excellent shot responsiveness.Disclaimer, our unit is a pre-production sample provided by Asus for the purpose of this test.And, to see the image quality during the day, this time I managed to get a cloudy day (no more of that bright streets) and, as you can see form the footage, everything in the camera’s vicinity is visible and clear.The device is much quieter in Battery Saver mode, but performance is simply too low for games to run properly. The lenses themselves feel exceptionally well made, especially the macro lens which has a satisfyingly dampened manual focus ring, the lenses also come in fitted rubber cases that can double up as lens caps. After you get over the initial feeling that you are going to break it, (seriously, it does take some force to get it off) the system is incredibly easy to quickly swap over lenses. Lenses are attached to the Hero13 in the same manner as the Max Lens Mod 2.0 on the Hero12 – a hard twist 45º clockwise and the lens pops off. Relying on the Quik app to adjust settings proved straightforward, though it’s wise to get to know the on-device controls to swap between, say, the micro SD card-filling 5.3K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps. But this is the first time there has been a native GoPro macro lens mod, and opens up an entirely new world of possibilities for video and photos. While you might not be spinning the camera around fully all the time, it’s great if you’re trying to shoot a scene from something like a boat in rough seas for example. This is a great option for professional photographers and videographers who already have the gear and want absolutely zero movement between the camera and the tripod. The cable itself is tough, designed to handle the rough and tumble of outdoor adventures, while also providing fast charging to keep your always GoPro ready for action. With the most powerful and durable battery that GoPro has ever made, you can enjoy a much higher battery capacity and improved power efficiency. Leading GoPro’s latest effort to reclaim its dominance is the new GoPro HERO13 Black, the brand’s flagship action camera. On the other hand, we do recognize several aspects of the current system that needs to be improved to achieve large-scale deployment of such high-performance radiative cooling systems. In summary, the experiments here provide a record-setting performance in radiative cooling during both day and night. Audio performance is actually very good from the Hero13’s built-in microphones, with good ambient sound pickup, and now there is the option to isolate your voice. The 400fps footage is so so slow, but it is silky smooth and the stabilization works flawlessly, although I can't see many day-to-day uses for video this slow, especially in max 720p. Oh, and the videos also have HyperSmooth stabilization. HyperSmooth is still excellent, but other top action cams have closed the gap now on stabilization and it's no longer a clear GoPro advantage. Horizon leveling can also keep the horizon level (duh) when the camera tilts and rolls, especially useful for racing or activities with lots of hard cornering. But the same isn't the case for the hinges, since opening the display lid always produces some slight creaking noises - at least in our test unit. The laptop is exclusively available in the color Cosmic Blue, which either looks very dark (almost black) or vibrant blue, depending on the angle of the light. This is a multimedia laptop with a 14.5-inch 3K OLED touchscreen and a 90 Hz refresh rate. Some of these features overlap with Microsoft’s Phone Link and Intel Unison, which are included and pre-installed. The Live Wallpaper app is a bit heavy and slow, but it does let you pick some interesting backgrounds, including ones that adjust to the current time. Samsung Flow, for instance, lets you access and cast your phone to your laptop using either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi/LAN (with the latter being nearly lag-free). Samsung packs a LOT of software into its laptops, which is a good thing, especially if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone to pair with. On the one hand, we noted image errors at higher details (for example in Total War Pharao) or problems with games crashing (e.g. X-Plane, Shadow of the Tomb Raider), but many games simply didn't even launch. We couldn't run all of our standard tests, as we faced some issues at times. The two fastest Snapdragon X Elite models are fitted with a faster GPU (4.6 TFLOP). The front screen, a 1.4-inch square LCD, is there so you can monitor the frame when you're self-recording or mounting the camera in a spot where you can't see the rear screen.By contrast, the Hero 11 Black could only be connected to one Bluetooth device at a time.He can usually be found testing mini PCs or prototyping and prop building with the aid of 3D printing.Over time you can upgrade these for speed or add different types of arms which help streamline certain actions.Additionally, the lightness of carbon maintains good maneuverability without sacrificing power.As a useful feature, the keyboard dock also contains an additional battery, which improves the battery life considerably.All of this fits into a small body that weighs just 154 grams, battery included. Siux padel rackets However, I’d recommend picking up an extra battery or two if you intend to be out all day. The GoPro Hero 12 Black is equipped with the same 1720 mAh Enduro battery as the Hero 11 Black that came before it. If you’re looking for the best low-light action cam, consider opting for the DJI Osmo Action 4 instead. But the only design tweak this time is the inclusion of GoPro's Enduro battery as standard. You can cancel at any time, but GoPro's hope is that you'll become tied into its cloud features, like automatic backups and highlight videos. This makes the Hero 11 Black, and potentially its incoming Hero 11 Black Mini sibling, the best action camera around for shooting social media videos. The GoPro Hero 11 Black is the new flagship model in an action camera range that dates back to 2005. In previous GoPro models, you were able to remove graininess and clarity to improve videos shot in heavy contrast situations or in low light. The electronic video stabilization of Hypersmooth is one of the key things that sets GoPro apart from its competitors, and it's a big part of why the Hero series has long been our favorite action camera. DJI Action 2The Action 2's modular design is a mixed blessing – it lets you build the style of action camera you need (for example, with a screen or not) and delivers a very intuitive magnetic mounting system. But if you're just looking for an affordable workhorse that can still shoot decent 4K video, then there are some better-value options in our best cheap action camera guide. You need a tough, waterproof vlogging cameraIf you like to shoot a lot of videos to camera, and also enjoy traveling to places with inclement weather or a high chance of mud, the Hero 10 Black could be your ideal vlogging companion. The viewing angles on this display are incredibly wide, as you should expect from any IPS screen. Just above that is a fantastically shiny, glowing power button and a rather thick plastic bezel wrapping around the 15.6-inch WQHD+ panel. As with most gaming laptops, bring a pair of headphones. If you wanted a unibody design, look to the Razer Blade. One of the main reasons Black Stuff can be sold at around half the price of comparable products is because it is produced at higher speed and without visual inspection. In mechanical properties and general handling Black Stuff is still a great performing all-rounder and is actually comparable to the general purpose carbon fibre sold by many suppliers. Black Stuff fabrics are 100% genuine carbon fibre reinforcements, with mechanical performance typical of a commercial grade carbon fibre. I’m sure it’s ultra-durable, but once salt water and/or sand gets under the rim, it’ll grate away the lens. It would probably be suitable if you need a lens mod to shoot ‘close-ups’ of motorbike chains or your face when riding a bike. 4.3 inches is close for a massive 100mm DSRL lens but very far for the Hero 13 Black due to its expanded FOV, making you feel the camera’s macro isn’t macro at all. ASUS AI, always incredible I’ll answer those questions here as I've been using this laptop as my main PC for the last 4 weeks. And why should you consider this laptop for your personal use? Samsung has been building laptops for many years now, but it has only been in the last few that the company has hit a stride (and a consistent naming scheme). I had a lot of fun with Slime 3K, but wish it would feel a bit more rewarding/overpowered while playing it. I wondering if it would feel more rewarding if there were also sidequests of some sort, to earn more tokens toward the meta progression, and experience. So, if you have a laptop or phone you want to give up, go directly with Samsung to get the most bang for your dollar. Those trade-ins can bring the price down by more than $500 depending on how new the item is (and likely a preference for Samsung’s hardware, similar to Apple's program). It’s worth noting, however, that Samsung has a very generous trade-in program that accepts smartwatches, tablets, PCs, and phones. Samsung finally listened, well, I guess to me and others, by drastically improving its display for Book3 Pro. The 16” model is the same as the 14” save for the larger display, but it also has a full number pad section, which is a valuable addition for many. It's thin and light with excellent build quality, and arguably has one of the best displays thanks to its premium 3K AMOLED screen. This game is in Early Access, so the info below will probably change over time, but hopefully it gives a good idea. Through productivity work, you can get it to last around six hours at most, and with streaming and gaming, you’ll be getting less than five hours. Bottomline, the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra has a terrible battery life. There’s no sign of the bottleneck that CPU performance hits when paired with a 4080 or 4090. In a few important moves, the game went from flawed, but it has promise to a fun, unique game that has the potential to grow into a great one. The deck-building was restrictive, demanding a large deck that made leveling the slime properly difficult, even frustrating. Getting the power to overcome even mid-game levels would take hours. The pre-release builds and the retail release had fundamentally different progressions and deck-building. The radioactive slime that grants upgrades is a smooth process. And today in Day-Date field, more and more people are participating in the production of heavy versions of Day-Date Rolex replicas, including GM, QF, K, CBD, THB, etc., customers are also more confused than before. The Hero 12 Black's Horizon Lock feature is also more powerful than DJI's, looking great at up to 5.3K resolution, while DJI's caps out at 4K. The Hero 12 Black's 10-bit 4K video also looks impressive, with lively colors and extensive scope for editing. And the 360-Degree Horizon Lock means you can literally spin the camera in a full circle and it will magically keep the horizon straight. There aren’t too many differences between the audio feature of the 12 and 13, but the 13 offers a slightly more sophisticated approach to audio on your content. You can still use a USB-C cable to your laptop or PC as well for ultra-fast transfers. While the older model had Wifi 5 Technology, the GoPro HERO 13 Black steps it up with even better specs! And like the Hero 10 Black, this new model has fine-tuned the 'out of camera' default settings to create a more natural, pleasing style out of the box. But more noticeable to your final output will be added features like the ability to shoot TimeWarp timelapses in 5.3K resolution. Aside from that new 10-bit color mode, the Hero 11 Black doesn't bring any major image quality improvements over its predecessors, but there are a couple of other small tweaks. If you need an action camera that's stronger in low light, check out the Insta360 One R 1-Inch Edition. There’s no other way to detail the screen other than to say it’s amazing to look at. While I didn’t test my words per minute, I feel myself typing faster than ever before thanks to the flat surface and low-profile keys allowing my fingertips to glide across the surface. The large, chicklet-style keys are rewarding to tap time and time again as you see the characters appear effortlessly as your thoughts are transcribed to ones and zero. This is effectively your interface to be productive and Asus has produced one of the best I’ve ever used. You’ll get between 6 and 8 hours of longevity for general use, more if you use Windows 11’s built-in eco features to stretch the battery life. It’s not great, and it really should be better in a third-generation AMOLED laptop, but it’s good enough. My trusty old 2020 HP Spectre x360 probably spins up its fans less frequently than the Book3 Pro, though I do have to admit that it also tends to get quite a bit warmer than this laptop. 16GB of RAM would’ve been nice to see here, although it’s consistent with previous models in the Galaxy Book Pro line. I have also never really loved the standard wide view of action cameras. But I can't review the Hero13 Black without talking about the lenses, as they are the selling point of the new camera. I'm not going to go into too much depth with reviewing the new HB Series of lenses as firstly, they are all optional extras and the core camera experience should be judged on its own, and also the lenses really deserve their own reviews. I mostly stuck to the 5.3K/120 which was perfect for catching action like the go-karts I was filming sliding around corners, and it seamlessly blended into my other 5.3k footage without an obvious drop in quality. Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra? I split time between several different software apps depending on the type of editing I'm doing. I keep an iPhone 13 in my pocket for the rare occasions I'm not carrying a camera. I use all of the major camera systems on a regular basis, swapping between Canon, Fujifilm, L-Mount, Micro Four Thirds, Nikon, and Sony systems. I still use a 1950 vintage Rolleiflex Automat TLR and love trying mid-century Leica lenses on film and digital alike. The fan speed is increased and decreased almost seamlessly and produces only a restrained noise. The display resolution of 2880x1620 pixels is higher than our ultra settings, so we also tested some titles with this resolution and the maximum settings. As a result, it does not have problems with many games, even if you play in Full HD resolution and ultra-high details. We will have a closer look at the real world gaming performance in the next section. It is roughly on the same level as current devices like the MSI GT60 in terms of GPU performance. Its 120Hz OLED display in particular is a jaw-dropper and made me realize what I’m missing out on with my usual IPS monitor. The HP Omen Transcend 14 (2024) brings yet another device, alongside the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, into the mid-range OLED gaming laptop market.
